What is needed for I-9?

The I-9 verification requires the employer to collect personal identifying information from new W-2 employees and review their work eligibility documents (passport, driver’s license, social security card). 

Form I-9 has Three Sections

  1. Employee Information
    1. Includes name, date of birth, address, citizenship/immigration status
  2. Employer Review
    1. Employer must review and verify the employee’s identification and employment eligibility documents. 
  3. Reverification and Rehires
    1. Only need to complete if the employer is reverifying information on a current employee due to employment authorization or documentation expired.
